How and Where to Apply as a Home-based Online Teacher?

Are you considering working from home but you don’t know where to find home-based job opportunities?

Online teaching has been one of the most popular home-based jobs among Filipinos. Since most of us, Filipinos, are good in speaking English, we have higher chances of getting hired as an Online Teacher.

Some of the popular Online Teaching platforms or companies that offer home-based jobs for Filipinos are Rarejob, 51Talk and Bizmates.

One of my friends is an online teacher at Bizmates and in this article, I’ll share with you more about this company and how you can apply as an Online Teacher.

Bizmates Philippines, Inc. is a SEC-registered company with headquarters in Japan. Bizmates claims to be the No. 1 Online Business English School in Japan and they’re actively hiring home-based English Teachers.

What are the Job Requirements

Since the main job responsibility is to teach business English to Japanese professionals, the applicants are expected to have excellent written and verbal English communication skills with at least 3 years of teaching or training experience.

Take note though that even if they prefer applicants with teaching experience, you can still apply even if you don’t have an experience. According to them, passion and a strong work ethic are far more important than teaching experience.

You must also have basic computer skills and must be able to use Skype efficiently. If you have worked or still working in the BPO or call center, that would be an advantage for you.

What to Expect at Bizmates?

At Bizmates, you can work flexibly. You can work full time or part time. Bizmates also offer higher rates compared to other online teaching platforms with an hourly rate of P140 to P220 depending on your qualifications and skills.

You will get paid through your BPI account. If you don’t have a BPI account yet, you will need to open one or Bizmates will assist you.

And since you will be provided with the original teaching materials from Bizmates, you can expect professional and career growth. They also offer promotion opportunities to those who deserve it. You may qualify to handle higher positions such Assessor, Mentor, Supervisor, etc.

If you are a newbie in online teaching, you have nothing to worry about because Bizmates offer real-time support. You have them at your back if you have any concerns professionally or technically.

What do you need to apply for this job? (Technical Requirements)

Since this is an online job, you are required to have High-speed and stable internet connection with at least 1Mbps for download and 0.50 Mbps for upload. WIFI is not allowed, therefore, you need to have a direct DSL/LAN cable connection to ensure better internet connection.

You need to use a desktop computer or a laptop for this type of job and you need to download the latest version of Skype. You must also have a good headset with noise cancellation properties.

This is a serious job so you are expected to be working in a quiet, well-lit area at home preferably with a white background. This will serve as your classroom and your students will see it so it must look professional or at least clean and clutter-free.
