What is a Job Fair?
A Job Fair is a way of providing job opportunities to job seekers by organizing an event where various job providers such as employment agencies or employers are present. The Job Fair fast-track the meeting of jobseekers and employers or overseas recruitment agencies in one venue at a specific date. This is done to reduce cost, time and effort particularly on the part of the applicants, who will only need to go the venue and will have a chance to apply to different agencies or employers.
Who can apply at Job Fairs?
Anyone who’s currently looking for a job opportunity can apply at the Job Fair. This is open to all unemployed, skilled and unskilled workers, graduates of training institutions, displaced workers and employees seeking advancement, and even fresh college graduates.
What to Bring to the Job Fair
Since you are applying for a job and many employers will be present at the Job Fair, prepare enough copies of the following documents:
- Updated Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Picture (2×2)
- Certificate of Employment
- Diploma or Transcript of Records
- Authenticated Birth Certificate
Tips when applying for a job vacancy at the Job Fair
It’s always best to be prepared physically and mentally when attending a job fair. Days before the event, take note of all the possible job positions that you would like to apply for based on your skills and know-how.
Employers will assess you based on what you currently know and what you’re capable of doing. Be honest about your weaknesses if asked and be open about making necessary adjustments or self-improvement.
If you’re not qualified in a certain position, don’t give up easily. Try other opportunities from other agencies or employers.
