PAL and CebuPac give Senior Citizens and PWDs Discount for Domestic Flights

Senior Citizens and PWDs can now travel at a much cheaper airfare after Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific have implemented the 20% discount and the 12% value-added tax (VAT) exemption on domestic airfares.

PAL Airlines Discount

According to PAL Airlines, travelers must log on to the PAL website to be able to avail of the discounts and exemptions for Senior Citizens and PWDs.

In an emailed statement, PAL said, “Discounts and exemptions apply to resident Filipino citizens purchasing regular fare tickets and is not applicable to other taxes, fees and charges and ancillary service like extra baggage and to tickets issued as a reward or prize.”

Requirements:

  • Senior Citizens must bring an Office of Senior Citizens Affairs identification card (OSCA ID) and any valid ID or government-issued ID.
  • PWDs must bring a PWD ID and any valid ID or government-issued ID.

According to PAL, Senior Citizen or PWD travelers who fail to present the required IDs may have to pay the 20% discount and the 12% VAT exemption based on the current applicable fare at the time of check-in. Or, they may also be fined P1,500, or their ticket may be forfeited.

Cebu Pacific Discount

According to Cebu Pac, bookings of Cebu Pacific flights by eligible senior citizens and PWDs will now reflect the applicable discounts on the base fare for flights within the Philippines.

The 20% discount and the 12% value-added tax (VAT) exemption are applicable to any of these booking options:

  • via the ticket office
  • via the CEB website (online)
  • via the CEB mobile app (online)

To avail of the discount and VAT exemption, Senior citizens and PWDs must input their date of birth and the number of their Senior Citizen or PWD card when booking via the CebuPac website or mobile app.
